In this episode we are joined by guests Barry and Lorie, Kerry's parents, to discuss Gonzo. We did have some audio issues with episode, FYI.
We open the episode with condolences to the friends and loved ones of Caroly Wilcox, who passed away January 9th, 2021. Caroly was puppet designer who primarily worked on Sesame Street. Caroly built Elmo and designed The Two-Headed Monster and The Martians, who we refer to as the Yip-Yips in the podcast.
We open the episode by introducing Barry and Lorie to our audience. They share their love of the Muppets and their love of Gonzo. A few things that are brought up were Kerry's childhood fear of Statler, Barry watching The Muppet Show when he lived in Rumford, Maine, the film The Night They Raided Minsky's, and the ITV Network.
For Gonzo trivia, we shared he has been played by Dave Goezl since 1976. The Gonzo puppet first appeared in a special called The Great Santa Clause Switch and his name was Snarl. Gonzo was the lead character in two Muppet films, The Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppets From Space. We also discuss some of the songs from the Muppets from Space soundtrack.
